Have you ever wanted to really know what goes on during a day at sea for marine scientist? By funding a research day, you will not only allow OCEANS research scientists to conduct their valuable research, having an active role on it, but also gain intimate insights into the highs and lows, successes and frustrations, of OCEANS' marine research projects.
Based on your total support, at the end of the year, OCEANS will send you a different kind of certificate for supporting scientific research and conservation:
Photo identification is essential in understanding the population dynamics of white sharks, and enabling us to continuously monitor the health of South Africa's white shark population. You can learn more about how this integrates with our research on our Project great white shark page.
For 30 Euro, We will send you a personal photographic catalogue of the sharks sighted.
Genetic information is the cornerstone of understanding a species population dynamics, movement patterns, and reproductive strategies. Learn more on our Project great white shark page.
For 50 Euro, We will send you a personal account of the day's research (photographic catalogue of the sighted sharks) along with information on all the sampled sharks.
Active tracking allows OCEANS research scientists to study different movement and migration patterns of Great white sharks During these tracking we documented the first examples of great whites hunting seals at night time, and made numerous new discoveries.Project great white shark page.
For 75 Euro, We will provide you with the unique insight into 24 hours of a great white's movement pattern, hunting behavior, and more.
The voluntary bite force of free swimming white sharks gives insight into how the white shark has evolved to become one of the ocean's most well adapted apex predators. Learn more on our Project great white shark page.
For 100 Euro, We will give a personal account on the day's research, including sending you a visual DVD on OCEANS research scientists in action using the bite meter.
